Summary: First time in Kathmandu, picked this for it's fabulous location in a vibrant artsy neighborhood near Patan Darbur Square as a friend was staying nearby. I am so very happy I picked this place. Wonderful historic place with a wing added that is more modern but in keeping with the original architecture, the room I booked was in the new section so the ceilings are high and the windows face over the courtyard to the original part of the hotel. The courtyard is delightful, providing a calm sanctuary from the bustling neighborhood around and we met the owner there one evening as he lit his offering - the original family live in a part of the old house. The bed was fantastically comfortable the bathroom super clean and fresh, the staff happily lugged my suitcase up and down from my room. I think it has something like ~ 14 of the 'Superior' rooms in the new section, so it's not a big place which means it is intimate and the desk and kitchen staff know who you are the minute you arrive - totally charming, Newa Chen will now be my go to preferred guest house in Kathmandu any time I'm here.. (and ..it's really close to the airport, so not too much sitting in crazy traffic to get here).
